Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B

Grand theft in the 181st pick: the Raiders steal Tyson and grade out a B.

Somebody in pick 181 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Raiders sat still while Jordyn Tyson, the No. 13 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
In No. 1 they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Fernando Mendoza
Somehow Fernando Mendoza was still sitting there in slot 36, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67 Rnd3 Spencer Fano
They robbed the room for Spencer Fano here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102 Rnd4 Jermod McCoy
They will replay Jermod McCoy at the 102nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick117 Rnd4 David Bailey
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, David Bailey in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick135 Rnd4 Cashius Howell
Cashius Howell at the 135th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176 Rnd5 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in Round 5, Pick 37 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick181 Rnd6 Jordyn Tyson
Circle this one: Jordyn Tyson at pick 181 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick184 Rnd6 Kayden McDonald
They barely believed it either: Kayden McDonald still on the board at No. 184. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick219 Rnd7 Diego Pavia
You do not let a quarterback like Diego Pavia reach the 219th pick and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
