Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
Larceny in the 238th pick lands the Patriots a A, Edwards and all.

Somebody in slot 238 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Donovan Edwards, the No. 200 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If Conner pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Armand Membou and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Armand Membou
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Armand Membou at slot 24. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick38 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
They took Landon Jackson at par in No. 38, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick69 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
By-the-book stuff, Omarr Norman-Lott at pick 69 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
A straight-up fair deal on Lathan Ransom at the 106th pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick217 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in pick No. 217 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick220 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
A wild overpay on Hayden Conner in the 220th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick238 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
Steal is underselling it; Donovan Edwards at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
