Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesD- FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Steelers to a B-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Steelers did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Wilson lower, and that gap is the story. That Fuaga pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick46 Rnd2 Taliese Fuaga
Taliese Fuaga in the 46th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick48 Rnd2 Nate Wiggins
Value with a capital V on Nate Wiggins in No. 48, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80 Rnd3 Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean at the 80th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick116 Rnd4 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at pick 116 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick121 Rnd4 Devontez Walker
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Devontez Walker in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick194 Rnd6 Ricky Pearsall
No drama and no debate, Ricky Pearsall went about where he belonged in slot 194. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron in Round 7, Pick 17 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
