Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Dolphins won the night they stopped Felton from sliding. Grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Dolphins were there to profit. Tai Felton, the No. 79 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 150. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Every board in the league had Borregales lower, and that gap is the story. Spending an early pick on specialist with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Will Johnson
Will Johnson at pick 13 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick48 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonah Savaiinaea. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick98 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in slot 98 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick116 Rnd4 Andres Borregales
A curious use of the 116th overall pick. Quarterback, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; a specialist in Andres Borregales did not.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jamaree Caldwell
Jamaree Caldwell at the 135th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick150 Rnd5 Tai Felton
Steal is underselling it; Tai Felton at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick155 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in pick No. 155 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick224 Rnd7 RJ Harvey
You do not let a running back like RJ Harvey reach No. 224 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick231 Rnd7 Alijah Huzzie
They robbed the room for Alijah Huzzie here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick253 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
Nothing to complain about; Jackson Hawes went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick256 Rnd7 Alijah Clark
Alijah Clark in Round 7, Pick 40 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
