Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B-.

The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named safety, a need the Steelers walked right past. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Rice has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In the 20th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. A real need, handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske in pick No. 51 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick84 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A reach on Brenden Rice in the 84th pick; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick120 Rnd4 Javon Foster
No drama and no debate, Javon Foster went about where he belonged in slot 120. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
They took Cedric Gray at par in Round 4, Pick 21, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick197 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick238 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trevin Wallace. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
