Huskie Badger DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Every board in the league had Wingo lower, and that gap is the story. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Graham Barton
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins at slot 41 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick58
Rnd2
Junior Colson
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 58 with a little surplus value in Junior Colson. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick88
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in pick 88 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick91
Rnd3
Mekhi Wingo
The board had cheaper options than Mekhi Wingo at the 91st pick, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
Pick126
Rnd4
Beau Brade
A reach on Beau Brade in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick169
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
Khristian Boyd at No. 169 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick202
Rnd6
Julian Pearl
A straight-up fair deal on Julian Pearl at the 202nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick219
Rnd6
Tylan Grable
They paid up for Tylan Grable at Round 6, Pick 44 when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick245
Rnd7
Kimani Vidal
They liked Kimani Vidal enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 245. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick255
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
A conviction pick on Trey Taylor at the 255th pick that the board grades a round light. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
