Huskie Badger DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Cedric Gray at the 91st overall pick, roughly 23 spots before his name belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Melton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the 25th overall pick they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 9 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kris Jenkins at slot 58 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick88
Rnd3
Max Melton
Nice patience on Max Melton, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91
Rnd3
Cedric Gray
They reached a country mile for Cedric Gray at pick No. 91, and the board is aghast. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick126
Rnd4
Beau Brade
A premium they did not need to pay, Beau Brade a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick169
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini at pick 169 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford in No. 202 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick219
Rnd6
Tylan Grable
Tylan Grable at the 219th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick245
Rnd7
Kimani Vidal
They paid a round early for Kimani Vidal in pick No. 245, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick255
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
The board had cheaper options than Trey Taylor at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
