Huskie Badger DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Packers: B-. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will need Grable to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Graham Barton
In No. 25 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at pick 41 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
They jumped the gun on Kiran Amegadjie, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick88
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in slot 88 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick126
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at pick No. 126 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick169
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
Khristian Boyd in Round 5, Pick 33 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick202
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
They went early on Nathaniel Watson in the 202nd pick, and the value did not follow. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick219
Rnd6
Tylan Grable
They paid up for Tylan Grable at pick 219 when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick245
Rnd7
Tarheeb Still
A tidy little value on Tarheeb Still in No. 245, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick255
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
They paid a round early for Trey Taylor in pick No. 255, more than the board wanted. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
