Huskie Badger DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Packers a B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Bortolini has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. However the rest shakes out, Devonshire at that price is a win they earned.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the 25th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in pick 41 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie at the 58th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in No. 88 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss in slot 91 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick126
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick169
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
A big swing on Tanor Bortolini at pick No. 169, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick202
Rnd6
M.J. Devonshire
M.J. Devonshire in Round 6, Pick 27 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick219
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
A tidy little value on Nathaniel Watson in pick No. 219, a step better than break-even. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jalen Sundell
A straight-up fair deal on Jalen Sundell at No. 245, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick255
Rnd7
Kimani Vidal
They took Kimani Vidal at par in the 255th pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
