FutureB
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bills for King: B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bills were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
They banked enough surplus on King to cover a lot of smaller sins. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
If Jackson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick34
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in No. 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick60
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
They took Braden Fiske at par in pick 60, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick128
Rnd4
Christian Jones
Christian Jones in the 128th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
They paid up for Tommy Eichenberg at the 134th pick when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick144
Rnd5
Sione Vaki
The board had cheaper options than Sione Vaki at Round 5, Pick 8, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick160
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
A reach on Javion Cohen in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick163
Rnd5
Kalen King
Kalen King in slot 163 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jha'Quan Jackson
They paid a round early for Jha'Quan Jackson in No. 164, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick189
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in the 189th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick200
Rnd6
M.J. Devonshire
M.J. Devonshire slid further than he should have, and pick No. 200 is lovely value for the cornerback. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick204
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
A straight-up fair deal on Drake Nugent at the 204th pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick205
Rnd6
Javontae Jean-Baptiste
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at the Round 6 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick248
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
Tylan Grable in pick 248 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
