Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
Nobody dealt better than the Browns this weekend: A-.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Browns, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.

Reaching for Sorsby left real value on the table behind him. That Fields pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Mike Onwenu deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
Caleb Lomu at pick 27 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick28 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick No. 28 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick78 Rnd3 Brendan Sorsby
They reached into another round for Brendan Sorsby, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick106 Rnd4 Malachi Fields
Circle this one: Malachi Fields at slot 106 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick113 Rnd4 Chandler Rivers
Chandler Rivers at the 113th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick141 Rnd5 Michael Trigg
A reasonable price with a little left over, Michael Trigg in No. 141. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204 Rnd6 Bud Clark
A straight-up fair deal on Bud Clark at the 204th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick244 Rnd7 Brandon Inniss
A reach for Brandon Inniss in pick No. 244; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
