Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jaguars let Dixon fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. You could see the war room lean forward. Johnny Dixon at the 212th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If Ceaser pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In No. 17 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
No drama and no debate, Keon Coleman went about where he belonged in the 40th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick96
Rnd3
DeWayne Carter
They paid sticker price for DeWayne Carter in the 96th pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick114
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
No edge and no loss on Matt Goncalves in slot 114; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick153
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
They went early on Nelson Ceaser in Round 5, Pick 17, and the value did not follow. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick212
Rnd6
Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236
Rnd7
Bub Means
They paid up for Bub Means at pick No. 236 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
