Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueD+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Cowboys.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Carter Smith a full 61 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In the 14th pick they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick21 Rnd1 Carter Smith
In the 21st overall pick they get a blindside protector, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick114 Rnd4 Derrick Moore
A real head-scratcher, Derrick Moore in pick No. 114 is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at Round 5, Pick 14 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Nothing to complain about; Davison Igbinosun went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick181 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
They jumped the gun on Earnest Greene III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick220 Rnd7 Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia at slot 220 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick225 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 225 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
