Chitown DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bears robbed the room for Jackson. Final grade: B. The Bears did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Donovan Jackson fell into Round 5, Pick 10. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In pick No. 10 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at slot 39 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick41
Rnd2
Ashton Jeanty
They robbed the room for Ashton Jeanty here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72
Rnd3
Armand Membou
Armand Membou in the 72nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick149
Rnd5
Donovan Jackson
The board fumbled Donovan Jackson all the way to Round 5, Pick 10, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
