Good, not great, for the Seahawks: B-. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Tylan Grable at pick 179 is 53 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
The Flournoy pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the 30th pick they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. More want than need.
Pick58
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Payton Wilson. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
A wild overpay on Cole Bishop in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick93
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at slot 93 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick102
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at Round 4, Pick 2 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
They paid sticker price for Theo Johnson in No. 118, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick130
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in pick 130 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick179
Rnd6
Tylan Grable
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tylan Grable in the 179th pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick192
Rnd6
Kendall Milton
The board had cheaper options than Kendall Milton at No. 192, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
No edge and no loss on JD Bertrand in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick235
Rnd7
Ryan Flournoy
You do not let a wide receiver like Ryan Flournoy reach the 235th overall pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
