CAM772 DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

Draft Grade — Browns

A franchise passer in Simpson headlines a B- weekend for the Browns. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Browns spent their marquee pick on Ty Simpson, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Rutledge proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On value alone, Daniels makes the weekend a net positive.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Ty Simpson
In the 6th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick24
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In the 24th pick they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson in pick 39 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70
Rnd3
Josiah Trotter
A reasonable price with a little left over, Josiah Trotter in the Round 3 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick107
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at pick No. 107 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick139
Rnd5
Kage Casey
Kage Casey at Round 5, Pick 1 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Terion Stewart
They went early on Terion Stewart in slot 144, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick147
Rnd5
Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison in No. 147 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick204
Rnd6
Jalon Daniels
Jalon Daniels at the 204th pick is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jamari Lyons
No drama and no debate, Jamari Lyons went about where he belonged in No. 248. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
