Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB+
The Chiefs got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Chiefs started one anyway for Akheem Mesidor, 63 picks ahead of schedule.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Sadiq at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and offensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In No. 11 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick29 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald at the 29th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at pick No. 40 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74 Rnd3 Akheem Mesidor
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Akheem Mesidor. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick109 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
They took D'Angelo Ponds at par in Round 4, Pick 9, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at pick 146 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick176 Rnd5 Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss in the 176th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
