FutureB-
The Lions let Coleman fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. When a board-topper like Keon Coleman slides to Round 3, Pick 30, you do not overthink it, and the Lions did not.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick61
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
Somehow Roman Wilson was still sitting there in the 73rd pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick93
Rnd3
Keon Coleman
They will replay Keon Coleman at slot 93 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick164
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 164 with a little surplus value in Mason McCormick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick201
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
No drama and no debate, Drake Nugent went about where he belonged in the 201st overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick205
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
A reasonable price with a little left over, Joe Milton III in pick 205. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick249
Rnd7
Trevin Wallace
Trevin Wallace at No. 249 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
