Draft Grade — Chiefs

FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Chiefs this weekend: A-. The Chiefs looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Chris Johnson Jr. at No. 210 regardless, 221 picks early.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Muhammad steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Bottom line, with Arvell Reese leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 26th pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
The board had Anthony Hill Jr. higher than the 40th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jadarian Price at No. 74. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick93
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
They let Malik Muhammad come to them and pounced at slot 93. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick125
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg in Round 4, Pick 25 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts at pick 147 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick168
Rnd5
Princewill Umanmielen
They left a pile of value on the table to take Princewill Umanmielen this early at No. 168. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick169
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun is a better player than the 169th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick177
Rnd5
Rayshaun Benny
By-the-book stuff, Rayshaun Benny at pick No. 177 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick210
Rnd6
Chris Johnson Jr.
A real head-scratcher, Chris Johnson Jr. in Round 6, Pick 30 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215
Rnd6
Jalen Thompson
Jalen Thompson at slot 215 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
