Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA+
The phones sank the Bears this weekend: B-. Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If Eboigbe pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
However the rest shakes out, Sinnott at that price is a win they earned. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the 9th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick28
Rnd1
Tyler Nubin
In pick No. 28 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick37
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bralen Trice. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 49th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick60
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at pick 60, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick69
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson at No. 75 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick83
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A premium they did not need to pay, Zak Zinter a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
By-the-book stuff, Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 20 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
A conviction pick on Justin Eboigbe at pick No. 110 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick122
Rnd4
Javon Foster
They paid sticker price for Javon Foster in the 122nd pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
Nice patience on Ben Sinnott, who had no business lasting to the 146th overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick241
Rnd7
Mark Perry
A clean, defensible pick in pick 241 with a little surplus value in Mark Perry. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
