Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureA
The Patriots won the night they stopped Gadsden II from sliding. Grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Oronde Gadsden II at the 217th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They will need Williams to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

The Elijah Moore pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
They went early on Aireontae Ersery in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick38 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow at pick 38 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jack Bech
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Bech at No. 67, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick69 Rnd3 Xavier Restrepo
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Restrepo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
By-the-book stuff, Elijah Arroyo at Round 3, Pick 11 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick77 Rnd3 Harold Fannin Jr.
They barely believed it either: Harold Fannin Jr. still on the board at the 77th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick99 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Deone Walker at pick No. 99 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick104 Rnd4 Tommi Hill
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tommi Hill well ahead of where he belonged. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick111 Rnd4 Omarr Norman-Lott
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 111th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick143 Rnd5 Cam Skattebo
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in pick 143, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick217 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in slot 217 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick220 Rnd7 Nohl Williams
They reached a country mile for Nohl Williams at No. 220, and the board is aghast. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick238 Rnd7 Hunter Wohler
Hunter Wohler at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
