FutureB+
The Raiders left with their quarterback, and a D to match. Somebody took the Raiders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
Everything downstream of Fernando Mendoza depends on Fernando Mendoza, and the building knows it. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
Every board in the league had Young lower, and that gap is the story.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick28
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In pick No. 28 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Zion Young
Zion Young at the 36th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67
Rnd3
Skyler Bell
Skyler Bell at Round 3, Pick 3 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102
Rnd4
Caden Curry
Caden Curry at the 102nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Bishop Fitzgerald
The board had Bishop Fitzgerald higher than the Round 4 slot, and the safety fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick118
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
Nothing to complain about; Bryce Lance went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick134
Rnd4
Max Iheanachor
They liked Max Iheanachor enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 134. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick155
Rnd5
Lander Barton
They paid up for Lander Barton at No. 155 when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick174
Rnd5
Le'Veon Moss
No edge and no loss on Le'Veon Moss in pick 174; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
