KJR DRAFTING FOR THECommanders

Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Commanders. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Commanders spent Round 7, Pick 7 on Dominic Zvada, a name most had 81 spots down the list. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Keldric Faulk
In No. 7 they get juice off the edge. A real need, handled.
Pick71
Rnd3
D'Angelo Ponds
You do not let a cornerback like D'Angelo Ponds reach pick 71 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick145
Rnd5
Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens in pick No. 145 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick185
Rnd6
Dae'Quan Wright
Fair-plus on Dae'Quan Wright, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick196
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris at the 196th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick223
Rnd7
Dominic Zvada
A real head-scratcher, Dominic Zvada in slot 223 is miles ahead of his ranking. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
