Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D+
ValueA NeedB TradesF FutureC
Goosby should have been long gone. The Chiefs pounced, and earned a D+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Trevor Goosby tumbling to the Chiefs in the 202nd overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Klare has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the 15th overall pick they get an every-down engine for the run game. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Spencer Fano
You do not let an offensive lineman like Spencer Fano reach the 35th pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick46 Rnd2 Arvell Reese
Taking Arvell Reese in No. 46 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick60 Rnd2 Max Klare
Max Klare in pick No. 60 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick79 Rnd3 Sonny Styles
Steal is underselling it; Sonny Styles at pick 79 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick81 Rnd3 Dani Dennis-Sutton
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Dani Dennis-Sutton in slot 81, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick116 Rnd4 Malachi Fields
The board fumbled Malachi Fields all the way to Round 4, Pick 16, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick155 Rnd5 Mansoor Delane
Mansoor Delane at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick176 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
They robbed the room for DeMonte Capehart here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick202 Rnd6 Trevor Goosby
Somehow Trevor Goosby was still sitting there in the 202nd overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
