Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Daniels is the plan now, and the Patriots grade out a D-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Patriots spent No. 224 on Jacob Dobbs, a name the board had a full 182 spots lower.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on Pearsall to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In the 2nd pick they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick 9 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
A tidy little value on Adonai Mitchell in No. 34, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick41 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jackson Powers-Johnson
A reach for Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 69th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick102 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ben Sinnott. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109 Rnd4 Ajani Cornelius
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ajani Cornelius this early at the 109th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith in No. 139 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick180 Rnd6 Hayden Hatten
A wild overpay on Hayden Hatten in pick No. 180, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223 Rnd7 Ricky Pearsall
Somehow Ricky Pearsall was still sitting there in slot 223, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jacob Dobbs
Jacob Dobbs in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It adds depth where they could use a little.
