JDOnTop DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Patriots checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Patriots walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
Landing Fields that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Reaching for Tiernan left real value on the table behind him. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In the 30th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick62
Rnd2
Caleb Tiernan
A real head-scratcher, Caleb Tiernan in pick No. 62 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick94
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields is a better player than slot 94 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price in No. 129 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick130
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Nothing to complain about; Parker Brailsford went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
