Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureD-
The Commanders won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Commanders would have aced it. Chase Bisontis at pick No. 73 is 41 spots clear of where he belonged. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Thieneman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 22nd pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick26 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kenyon Sadiq in pick No. 26. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick55 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
They will replay Dillon Thieneman at the 55th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick60 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard is a better player than Round 2, Pick 28 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick71 Rnd3 Derrick Moore
A big swing on Derrick Moore at pick 71, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick73 Rnd3 Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis at slot 73 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick145 Rnd5 Red Murdock
A wild overpay on Red Murdock in Round 5, Pick 7, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick185 Rnd6 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick196 Rnd6 Daevin Hobbs
Value said wait; Daevin Hobbs in No. 196 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
