Golday should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B-.

The board owed the Patriots one, and it paid up: Jake Golday, the No. 58 name on the board, sitting there at the 95th pick like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They will need Daniels to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
