The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Proctor: B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kaleb Proctor, the No. 169 name on the board, stolen at the Round 6 slot.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Caldwell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kenyon Sadiq in pick 31. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick63 Rnd2 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy slipping to the 63rd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick115 Rnd4 Tyreak Sapp
Tyreak Sapp in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick125 Rnd4 Dametrious Crownover
Dametrious Crownover in slot 125 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick131 Rnd4 Will Lee III
Will Lee III at the 131st pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick169 Rnd5 Eric Rivers
Eric Rivers is a better player than pick No. 169 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick189 Rnd6 Kaleb Proctor
Circle this one: Kaleb Proctor at Round 6, Pick 10 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick200 Rnd6 Taylen Green
They let Taylen Green come to them and pounced at No. 200. The roster fit checks out.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jeremiah Wright
They paid sticker price for Jeremiah Wright in slot 207, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jeff Caldwell
They went early on Jeff Caldwell in pick 210, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick247 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at No. 247 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
