Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Alexander should have been long gone. The Eagles pounced, and earned a B.

When a board-topper like Darius Alexander slides to slot 166, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Thornton Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jalon Walker
In the 32nd overall pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick64 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
A slide stopped in pick No. 64, with Harold Fannin Jr. worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick96 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Steal is underselling it; Darien Porter at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick129 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in the 129th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick162 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They jumped the gun on Dont'e Thornton Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166 Rnd5 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in Round 5, Pick 27 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at No. 169 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
