The Colts cashed the board's mistake on Loveland: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Colts were there to profit. Colston Loveland, the No. 25 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 45th overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. If Simon pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In slot 14 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick45 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland in Round 2, Pick 13 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick80 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
They read the board right and Omarr Norman-Lott was the payoff at pick No. 80. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick117 Rnd4 Cody Simon
A premium they did not need to pay, Cody Simon a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick151 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore slipping to pick 151 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick189 Rnd6 Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks in the 189th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick232 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in Carson Vinson. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
