If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bears would have aced it. Baylor Cupp at slot 243 is 133 spots clear of where he belonged.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The Holker pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at cornerback. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Landing Kinchens that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
