De DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

Draft Grade — Browns

More right than wrong for the Browns, and a B- to prove it. The Browns went off the board in a big way for Jaishawn Barham, 39 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Allar pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In the 5th pick they get a two-high chess piece. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick23
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In No. 23 they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Trevor Goosby
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trevor Goosby well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jaishawn Barham
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaishawn Barham. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick109
Rnd4
Drew Allar
Drew Allar slid further than he should have, and pick 109 is lovely value for the quarterback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
