The board owed the Patriots one, and it paid up: Damien Martinez, the No. 156 name on the board, sitting there at No. 217 like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The back end got a real overhaul.

Their trades came out a wash either way.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
