The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Giddens: A.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how DJ Giddens got past him. The Patriots do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 219. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A to show for it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Josh Downs pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Mykel Williams and all.
