The Cowboys bet the future on Ward. The board says D. The Cowboys spent real capital to be 129 picks early on KJ Jefferson, and the board is going to hold them to it. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
However the rest shakes out, Stutsman at that price is a win they earned. Cam Ward gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. It is not that Watts is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
