Paul should have been long gone. The Cardinals pounced, and earned a C-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cardinals watched Patrick Paul slide 38 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The cost of the Schrader reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The veteran additions, Minkah Fitzpatrick chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
If Dallas Turner and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
