Draft Grade — Eagles

TradesA+
FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Eagles a B+. The rest of the league had time to spare on Mason Fairchild; the Eagles did not wait, grabbing him 57 spots ahead at pick 243. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
Foster at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
The Stover pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman and quarterback. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Nate Wiggins
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Circle this one: Tyler Nubin at No. 50 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick65
Rnd3
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick97
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Roman Wilson at the 97th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104
Rnd4
Cade Stover
A want over a need in the 104th overall pick: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while interior defensive lineman and quarterback keeps waiting.
Pick137
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
A quiet steal in slot 137: Tommy Eichenberg for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick163
Rnd5
Javon Foster
Javon Foster at the 163rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick172
Rnd5
Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader in slot 172 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick178
Rnd6
Javon Baker
Javon Baker in the 178th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick225
Rnd7
Rasheen Ali
You do not let a running back like Rasheen Ali reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick243
Rnd7
Mason Fairchild
They reached a country mile for Mason Fairchild at pick No. 243, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
