Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bills a B. The Bills clearly saw something nobody else did in De'Corian Clark, taking him 61 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
However the rest shakes out, Kinchens at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: linebacker settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick 28 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
They robbed the room for Chop Robinson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick99
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in the 99th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick129
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at No. 129 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick159
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
No drama and no debate, Mason McCormick went about where he belonged in the 159th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick162
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
They liked Khristian Boyd enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 5 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick198
Rnd6
Emani Bailey
Emani Bailey at No. 198 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick202
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
A reach on Michael Barrett in the Round 6 slot; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick206
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in pick No. 206 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick246
Rnd7
Matt Lee
They reached a country mile for Matt Lee at Round 7, Pick 26, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
