A sensible, unshowy class lands the Patriots a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Patriots did exactly that with Willie Lampkin in slot 145. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting White III where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

In pick No. 4 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.

They paid sticker price for Jihaad Campbell in the 38th overall pick, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.

Ozzy Trapilo in slot 69 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.

Jayden Higgins in pick 77 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Cam Skattebo at Round 4, Pick 4 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
