Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B+
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Jones from sliding. Grade: B+. The Seahawks ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Jones at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will need Zinter to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Cade Otton deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick No. 26 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Junior Colson
Fair-plus on Junior Colson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zak Zinter well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89
Rnd3
Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan in pick 102 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick118
Rnd4
Spencer Rattler
They took Spencer Rattler at par in slot 118, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick179
Rnd6
Erick All
Erick All in Round 6, Pick 4 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick192
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
A tidy bit of business in pick 192, where Ty'Ron Hopper graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick235
Rnd7
Myles Harden
They barely believed it either: Myles Harden still on the board at the Round 7 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick246
Rnd7
Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones in the 246th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
