Draft Grade — Seahawks

The Seahawks cashed the board's mistake on Hartman: B. Somebody in Round 7, Pick 16 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Seahawks sat still while Sam Hartman, the No. 211 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The cost of the Ford reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Seahawks indulged a want in Stover while a need in wide receiver, running back and other spots stayed open.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In pick 17 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick78
Rnd3
Junior Colson
No drama and no debate, Junior Colson went about where he belonged in the 78th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A reach for Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick96
Rnd3
Cade Stover
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cade Stover at TE-EDGE with wide receiver, running back and other spots open.
Pick118
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in No. 118 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
They reached a country mile for Jaylan Ford at Round 5, Pick 18, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194
Rnd6
Josh Proctor
A reasonable price with a little left over, Josh Proctor in pick No. 194. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick236
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman in the 236th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
