Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Cowboys spent the 170th pick on Trey Moore, a name most had 123 spots down the list.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Jaxson Dart is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. It is not that Winston Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first.

They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That Mondon Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
