Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Jaguars won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Jaguars spent pick No. 234 on DeMonte Capehart, a name most had 64 spots down the list. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 4 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick48 Rnd2 Mekhi Wingo
Mekhi Wingo at pick 48 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
No edge and no loss on Brenden Rice in pick No. 66; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They paid a round early for Cooper Beebe in No. 67, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
They took Christian Mahogany at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick84 Rnd3 Tyler Davis
A conviction pick on Tyler Davis at the 84th pick that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick101 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
A wild overpay on Darius Robinson in the 101st overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick115 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at Round 4, Pick 15 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at the 117th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick137 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
They jumped the gun on Ben Sinnott, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick138 Rnd5 Jaylen Wright
A big swing on Jaylen Wright at slot 138, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick152 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kitan Oladapo in the Round 5 slot, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick181 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
The board had cheaper options than Michael Barrett at pick 181, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick188 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in No. 188 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick195 Rnd6 Kingsley Eguakun
Kingsley Eguakun in pick 195 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan at the 211th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick234 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
A swing that ignored the value entirely, DeMonte Capehart well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
