Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
A-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesA+
FutureA+
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a A-. Nobody else had Darius Robinson anywhere near the 75th pick. The Bears did, by 46 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In pick No. 9 they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Darius Robinson
A real head-scratcher, Darius Robinson in the 75th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick78
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
A tidy little value on Johnny Wilson in pick 78, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
They took Jaden Hicks at par in Round 4, Pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at slot 111 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick123
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Braelon Allen. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick141
Rnd5
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the safety. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick143
Rnd5
Javon Baker
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Javon Baker well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick147
Rnd5
Keith Randolph Jr.
A conviction pick on Keith Randolph Jr. at the 147th pick that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
They will replay Jarrian Jones at pick 151 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick218
Rnd6
Erick All
Erick All in slot 218 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick221
Rnd7
Omar Speights
Omar Speights in pick No. 221 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
