Larceny in the 228th overall pick lands the Browns a D, Still and all.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Browns did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Getting Still where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The veteran additions, Justin Fields chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Chop Robinson at No. 37 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
