FutureA
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Jaguars a B. The Jaguars spent real capital to be 21 picks early on Cam Hart, and the board is going to hold them to it.
The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Clark steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick48
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They went early on T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick55
Rnd2
Mekhi Wingo
They paid up for Mekhi Wingo at Round 2, Pick 23 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick79
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at pick 79 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick86
Rnd3
Tyler Davis
A reach for Tyler Davis in slot 86; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick96
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in the 96th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick114
Rnd4
James Williams
They talked themselves into James Williams at No. 114, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick116
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Cam Hart at pick No. 116 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick155
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
A conviction pick on Kitan Oladapo at the 155th pick that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
No edge and no loss on Jaylen Wright in the 159th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick195
Rnd6
Christian Jones
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at pick 195 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark slid further than he should have, and No. 211 is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick237
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dwight McGlothern this early at Round 7, Pick 17. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
