Rocy2026 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Good, not great, for the 49ers: B. You can draft well and still miss the point. The 49ers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most.
On value alone, Muhammad makes the weekend a net positive. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In slot 27 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Gennings Dunker
Good price on Gennings Dunker in the 58th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at pick No. 92 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick127
Rnd4
Cyrus Allen
Nothing to complain about; Cyrus Allen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133
Rnd4
Demond Claiborne
They did well to land Demond Claiborne in pick 133, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138
Rnd4
Skyler Gill-Howard
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Skyler Gill-Howard. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171
Rnd5
Marlin Klein
A tidy little value on Marlin Klein in Round 5, Pick 33, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
