Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Jaguars checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Jaguars reached some 38 spots for DeMonte Capehart, and value like that does not grow back.

They will answer for taking edge rusher early while linebacker, quarterback and other spots went begging. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Landing Wilson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him.
Pick48 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
A premium they did not need to pay, T'Vondre Sweat a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick56 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier at No. 56 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Mahogany at the 79th pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick96 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Roman Wilson in slot 96. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick114 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
A want over a need in Round 4, Pick 14: Darius Robinson adds an edge rusher while linebacker, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick116 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in pick No. 116 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick124 Rnd4 Cam Hart
They paid a round early for Cam Hart in pick 124, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick155 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
A conviction pick on Kitan Oladapo at the 155th pick that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick195 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick211 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
Quietly one of the better values of the day, De'Corian Clark at No. 211. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
Good price on Jawhar Jordan in the 212th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick237 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
They reached into another round for DeMonte Capehart, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
