FutureA+
The Commanders leave the weekend clear winners: A-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Barion Brown; the Commanders did not wait, grabbing him 23 spots ahead at the 223rd overall pick. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick72
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
A reach for Zakee Wheatley in slot 72; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick146
Rnd5
Sammy Omosigho
No edge and no loss on Sammy Omosigho in No. 146; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick184
Rnd6
Taylen Green
Taylen Green in pick No. 184 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick223
Rnd7
Barion Brown
Barion Brown in pick 223 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
